Comments about the web site: Looking for '68-'69 vets who helped build Camp Red Devil.Great site! I would have liked to see from the time I was there, but you no doubt arrived after I left. I've lost every picture I ever took. Things change! If you have trouble finding my web page, e-mail me. I'm still working on it.I did a year with the 1st Sig. Bde "67-'68) and was then sent to Ft. Carson. I volunteered to join the 5th and return to Nam. Was sent to the 75th Spt Bn. and we initially were stationed at Dong Ha. Later, built Camp Red Devil at Quang Tri and stayed till approximately Feb. '69 when I got shipped off to the 1st Log. Cmnd under the infusion program. (They didn't want the whole unit to DEROS at the same time). I'd like to hook up with some old friends if possible. P.S. Can anyone help with my website? I'm just learning HTML and not very good it seems.
Welcome home!

Comments about the web site: I think your site is great and well done. No, I did not have the honor to fight with my brothers in Vietnam. I was too young. I was a B-52H Crew Chief who got tired of preflights and the Alert Pad, I wanted more... I did not want to send someone else on a mission, I wanted to be part of it. I left the active duty Air Force as a SSGT (E-5) and joined the Army Infantry. I served with the 1/61st Infantry stationed at Fort Polk, LA. I participated in Operation Nimrod Dancer in Panama, and was in formation, at Fort Polk, LA when 1/61st colors were retired. I have never met a better group of men since I left the ARMY. I miss the Military very much!!!! God Bless All That Have Served. My Prayers go out to you all.
Best Wishes, Bob Jacoby

Comments about the web site: I enjoyed reading and looking at the pictures taken in and around Camp Red Devil. I was there from July 68 to July 69 in HHC, 75th Support Battalion, 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Div. (Mech). You need more pictures of the "early" days of Red Devil. I would like to contribute my photos

Comments about the web site: Receantly I traveled to Ft Jackson to pick up my son from Basic Training (split option reserves). Although he was not assigned to 1/61 Inf, his barraacks were directly across from theirs. Lets say that it was hard to explain to him and my wife why I stopped and fell to my knees when I saw that sign showing the BN HQ. I was with the the 105 FSB 5ID deployed in support of and assigned to the 1/61 Inf. in Panama. Camp Roadrunner on range road. I hope all returned to healthy and happy lives.

Comments about the web site: I was a member of "A" Co. 1st Bn. 61st Inf Regt. 19 March - 31 August when 61st was deactivated and we were designated the 5th Inf Regt. At that time the 61st was a part of the 8th Inf Div at Ft. Carson Colorado. The 8th was a gyroscope division moving to Germany in the fall of '56. The 61st along with all unit in the division was designated a basic training outfit. I'm glad that your site is giving it the recognition its proud history deserves.

I was the Last Man that shipped over with the unit that was left in the field after the year was up. Left the field when the unit was still at the end of Highway 9 near Khe Sanh. Love to hear from others and have recently meet with David Gettis a friend I remember well.
