DRAWINGS FROM THE PAST

THE YANKS ARRIVE
In May of 1945 troops of the 3rd US Army, including elements of the 5th Division, liberated Czechoslovakia. In Plzen, a young Czech artist, 18 year old J. Lauda, captured scenes with black and white drawings. With the end of the war in Europe the Czechs came under Russian control. History was rewritten and for years the official history had Russian forces liberating Pilsen. Mr. Lauda's artwork was hidden away. Recently the drawings have been put on displayed again. Through the efforts of the Military Car Club of Pilsen and especially with the help of G. Jerry Toole, copies of the drawings have been released by the president of the military car club for an addition to the 1/61 web site.

Here they are.
